RESOLVED:- that pursuant to Section100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended, the press and public be excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds of likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 7 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act.

Grant of Hackney Carriage Driver's Licence (Agenda Item 4)

Minutes:

Members were advised that prior to this meeting, the application had been reviewed and on the advice of Legal this application had been granted and therefore removed from this agenda.

Renewal of Hackney Carriage Driver's Licence (Agenda Item 5)

Minutes:

Councillor Peter Tyson declared a personal interest in this application and took no part in the discussion or determination of the application.

 

Consideration was given to a report submitted on a request received for the

Renewal of a Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s Licence.

 

The applicant attended the hearing via a Teams video link from the Council’s Moresby Offices and addressed the Committee.

 

A vote was then taken by way of a roll call.

 

On a vote of 6 For, 0 Against and 1 Abstentions, it was therefore:-

 

RESOLVED:- that the applicant’s Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver’s Licence be granted for a period of three years.

Report convictions relating to a licensed private hire driver (Agenda Item 6)

Minutes:

Members were informed of a Disclosing and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate that contained convictions relating to a Licensed Private Hire Driver’s Licence.  The convictions had previously been considered and a driver licience granted.  Since the grant Copeland have adopted the National Guidance on determination of applications with a policy to review all renewals as they arise.

 

Consideration was given to a report submitted on a request received for the continuation of a Private Hire Driver’s Licence.

 

The applicant provided information for the committee to consider but was not able to attend the hearing.

 

After careful consideration a vote was taken by way of a roll call.

 

On a vote of 7 For, 0 Against and 0 Abstentions, it was therefore:-

 

RESOLVED:- that the Licensed Private Hire Driver’s Licence continue.

Grant of Hackney Carriage Driver's Licence (Agenda Item 7)

Minutes:

Consideration was given to a report submitted on a request received for the

Grant of a Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence.

 

The applicant attended the hearing via a Teams video link from the Council’s Moresby Offices and addressed the Committee.

 

A vote was then taken by way of a roll call.

 

On a vote of 6 For, 1 Against and 0 Abstentions, it was therefore:-

 

RESOLVED:- that the applicant’s Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence be granted for a period of twelve months, with authority granted to the Public Protection Manager to extend for a further two years, subject to the applicant meeting the agreed condition and there being no offences during the initial twelve month period.
