Councillors Joan Hully and Linda Jones-Bulman declared a non-pecuniary Interest in Applications 4/18/2326/001 (Land to South East of Trumpet Road, Cleator Moor) and 4/18/2441/0O1 (Land at Birks Road, Cleator Moor) due to being a Cleator Moor Town Councillors.

 

Councillors Joan Hully, Michael McVeigh and Jackie Bowman declared a non-pecuniary Interest due to knowing the agents and a number of people in the public seats. All Members stated they were not pre-determined and would look at each application with an open mind.

Mr Tyson, Mrs Curwen, Mrs J McClelland and Mr N Ford (on behalf of Cleator Moor Town Council) spoke in objection to the application.

 

The Applicant’s Agent, Mr M Sandelands, then exercised his right to respond.

 

RESOLVED – that on a vote of 2 in favour, 8 against and 0 abstentions, the application be Deferred as Members were minded to refuse the application against the Planning Officer’s recommendation.

RESOLVED – that the street names Ember Lane, Brook Close, Heath Close, Forge Lane, Hayfell Close and Cinder Lane be adopted for this development and all the relevant bodies be notified.

Members considered a request for the release of the planning obligation made under section 52 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 relating to the use of the Former Customs House, West Strand, Whitehaven.

 

During the discussion that followed, Members expressed concern that proceeds of the sale from the property were not guaranteed to remain in Copeland and asked that the item be deferred in order for the Solicitor to revisit the wording.

 

RESOLVED – that a decision be deferred until the next meeting to allow for the Solicitor to revisit the recommendation’s wording.
