Members received an update on the first stage of the Community Governance Review of Egremont Parish from the Community Governance Projects Officer.

 

A consultation on the Egremont review ran from 24 October 2016 to 5 December 2016 during which time details were placed on the Copeland Borough Council’s website, an article was published in the Whitehaven News, a drop-in session was held at Egremont Market Hall and letter/email consultation held with Egremont Town and Cumbria County Councillors.

 

No responses to the consultation were received. 

 

Following discussion, it was

 

RESOLVED – that

a)     It be noted that there were no responses to the Egremont review consultation,

b)     The initial proposals as set out in para 4 of the agenda report be confirmed as the final proposals for publication,

c)     The draft Community Reorganisation Order be forwarded to the 4 April 2017 meeting of Council for approval.

Community Governance Review - Beckermet with Thornhill pdf icon PDF 59 KB

The Community Governance Projects Officer introduced a report to Members for a review of the number of Councillors on the Beckermet with Thornhill Parish Council. The proposal being to reduce the number of Councillors from 14 to 12.

 

The Terms of Reference, initial proposals for the review and arrangements for consultation were then discussed, with the proposed consultation period be

19 December 2016 to 6 February 2017.

 

During the discussion that followed, Members suggested that a proposed drop-in session in the parish should not take place and requested the Community Governance Projects Officer liaise with the Parish Clerk to ensure the parish has no objection to this suggestion.

 

RESOLVED – that

a)     the Terms of Reference for the Beckermet with Thornhill Parish Council Review as set out in Appendix A of the report be agreed,

b)     the Initial Proposals as set out in Appendix B of the report be agreed, and

c)     the Consultation Proposals and the Consultation Period as set out in Paragraph 4 of the report be agreed.

The Community Governance Projects Officer introduced a report to Members for a review of the number of Councillors on the Seascale Parish Council. The proposal being to reduce the number of Councillors from 12 to 8.

 

The Terms of Reference, initial proposals for the review and arrangements for consultation were then discussed, with the proposed consultation period be

19 December 2016 to 6 February 2017.

 

During the discussion that followed, Members suggested that a proposed drop-in session in the parish should not take place and requested the Community Governance Projects Officer liaise with the Parish Clerk to ensure the parish has no objection to this suggestion.
