The Interim Nuclear Projects Manager circulated the draft response to the North West Coast Connections Detailed Route Proposal Consultation and provided Members with a brief overview of the project to date. It was noted that the draft response should be read in conjunction with, and provides the local Copeland detail to the Joint Consultation Response prepared by consultants WYG on behalf of those local authorities across Cumbria and North Lancashire who form the Planning Performance Authority (PPA) Group.

During the discussion that followed, each section of the proposed response was looked at in detail and a number of small amendments and additions suggested.

a)     The draft Copeland Borough Council response to the consultation be amended with the suggestions made and approved for submission to National Grid by the deadline on 6 January 2017, and

b)     The Managing Director, in consultation with the Chair of the Panel, be authorised to agree any minor changes to the Copeland response and to approve, on behalf of the Council, the Preliminary Environmental Information technical response prepared by the consultant team on behalf of the local authorities in the PPA Group also for submission on 6 January 2017 in draft form.
