2021/22 Council Tax Requirement and Council Tax Setting pdf icon PDF 522 KB

Minutes:

Consideration was given to a report (which formed part of the Budget & Policy Framework within an Elected Mayoral authority) setting out the proposed Council Tax for 2021/22 taking account of the precept requirements of Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner and Town and Parish Councils.

This followed the approval of the Elected Mayor and Executive’s Estimates of Amounts and Council Tax Base as set out in detail in the reports to Council on

2 March 2021.

In presenting the report, the Director of Financial Resources asked Members to note that within Appendix A, Paragraph 4 the County Council Band B figure should read £1,165.15 and the Band E figure £1,830.93 and not as stated in the report.

In the discussion that followed, Councillor Gemma Dinsdale queried the Council Tax process and  questioned whether the residents of Copeland were getting value for money.

The Chair returned to the agenda and a vote was then taken by way of a roll call.

On a vote of 6 For, 1 Against and 0 Abstentions, it was therefore:-

RESOLVED – that

a)     the Council Tax requirement for its own purpose and the precepts notified to it by Cumbria County Council, the Cumbria Police and Crime Commissioner and individual Parish precepts as contained in the agenda report be noted, and

b)     the final level of Council Tax for the year, under the Local Government Finance Act 1992, be set in accordance with the figures shown at Appendix A of the agenda report.
